VesselVanguard Hires David Hensel as Chief Marketing Officer

Annapolis, Md. – VesselVanguard, the popular web-based subscription service that simplifies boat ownership, announced today the appointment of David Hensel as Chief Marketing Officer. Hensel comes to VesselVanguard from Grand Banks Yachts, where he served for nearly a decade as Director of Brand and Marketing for the esteemed builder of iconic motoryachts. As VesselVanguard CMO, Hensel will lead its marketing and brand-building programs, as well as contribute to a wide range of corporate, product and business development activities.

Hensel brings years of marketing leadership within the boating industry to his new role at VesselVanguard, along with considerable expertise in web-based platform technologies and other entrepreneurial ventures. Prior to joining Grand Banks he co-founded and held top positions at three Seattle-based businesses, including a biotech company, a marketing services firm and an innovative solutions company for aging adults and their families.

An innovative cloud based application, VesselVanguard creates a comprehensive password protected boat profile accessible by browser, iPad or smartphone. The profile contains all manuals in searchable form with current updates, warranty data, registration and insurance documentation, organized to the preferences of the owner. Based on a vessel’s Master Equipment List each profile is programmed to provide monthly Task Alerts of OEM recommended maintenance and inspections based on hours or days of use between service events. On a monthly basis, the owner, dealer and service partners receive an emailed Task Alert listing upcoming tasks including parts lists and other needed information. With the click of a mouse the owner can assign or reschedule tasks. When the work has been completed, the owner or dealer-contractor logs the date of completion, uploads the work notes and invoice, photos or videos, and the VesselVanguard algorithm automatically recalibrates the Boat Profile to the next maintenance interval—whether based on hours of use, calendar days or both. A continuum of knowledge is created between all parties in the seasonal and long-term lifecycle of the boat, increasing time on the water and providing service opportunities for dealers and service technicians. The VesselVanguard Smart Calendar gives owners, captains and their service contractors at-a-glance views of all required future maintenance by equipment group for any length of time.
